The Feuerspirale is a light sculpture that reminds us of the vital role fire has played in our professions and in society as a whole. Red and yellow fluorescent acrylic rods are arranged in a Fibonacci spiral, gradually augmenting its height toward the center to form a dramatic focal point. The color scheme is inspired by the hues of fire, as well as the accent colors found on the façade of the new building of the Berufsbildende Schule I or Vocational School 1 in Mainz.

On the upper edges of the sculpture, ambient light is projected to create a series of glowing points that trace the movement of a rising flame. At night, the rods are illuminated with artificial light, generating an atmosphere well-suited for gatherings and outdoor activities.

Through its interplay of light and reflection, the Fire Spiral reactivates the public space, creating a vibrant atmosphere that invites people to pause, play, and observe—bringing new energy and visibility to the Hartenberg-Münchfeld district.

The spiral greets students and passersby with its warm hues, transforming this busy neighborhood square into a place of connection and shared experience.
